Good practice / spotlight item

Clearance of 100% of wastewater collected in sewers
Droughts and water scarcity will occur at increasing rates in Murcia as a result of climate change. To prepare for such situations the city commissioned the construction of new water treatment plants, especially in Murcia East. As a result of the enhanced control of industrial discharges, 100 percent of the water circulating in the city's sewer system can be treated. This allows the reuse of water in appropriate conditions for irrigation or discharge into public waterways, thereby recycling a diminishing resource. More information can be found here.
