Good practice / spotlight item

Urban regeneration along Andrano's coast
The city of Andrano, in cooperation with the neighbouring municipalities of Ortelle, Diso, and Spongano developed an ambitious 2 million Euro urban regeneration project funded by the European Commission from 2007 to 2013. Measures undertaken in the project include: removing the signs of human presence along the coast, building landscape-preserving corridors, connecting the area to the existing regional park nearby via new pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths, and developing new landscaping and urbanisation strategies that take seasonal change into effect.
