Summary of the strategy/plan
The Municipal Water Plan of Carmignano di Brenta is a planning tool to manage the water-related impacts of extreme weather events such as heavy rainfall and floods. The plan covers the next 30 years and sets out an investment figure of more than 5.5 million Euros. The plan details the existing network of waterways, analyses their weaknesses, and defines preliminary projects and interventions designed to secure the municipality's water network. The probability and return period of extreme weather events is the basis upon which the plan considers a series of concrete actions to avoid the negative impacts thereof.

Planned adaptation actions

Within its Water Plan, Carmignano has already planned a series of measures to reduce the flood risk on minor streams. Among them are structural measures such as the creation of a bypass for the "Roggia Friga" to avoid overcharges and more strategic actions such as the creation of several trench drains. The city also plans to clean and restore the drainage system to avoid flooding in the urban areas.

Good practice / spotlight item

Zoning of the township
Seeing as the Carmignano area is likely to suffer from increasingly large temperature variations, a survey was conducted to determine which residential areas are more vulnerable to changes in temperature/extreme temperatures. The results of the survey show that homes in areas 1, 2, and 3 (from red to yellow) are both the most sensitive to temperature change and the most energy-intensive. Based on these results, Carmignano's administration will conduct an information and awareness raising campaign to inform citizens about how to react to heatrelated vulnerabilities. With more awareness, the city hopes to better respond to extreme weather phenomena.
