Protecting Torre del Cerrano

Torre del Cerrano is a protected marine area as recognised by the Italian Environment Ministry. The area consists of 37 square kilometres of sea and coastline containing rare flora and fauna. Silvi is involved in the protection of indigenous plant species in the area, which serves as an example of adaptation best practices in Italy. Torre del Cerrano has been designated as a site of Community importance (according to the Official Journal of the European Union from January 2013) and in 2014 the area received the "Charter Park" award as part of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas.
