Fatalities associated with floods

Description

Flooding can affect both physical and mental health. During the flooding, direct physical health effects include drowning, injuries caused by contact with objects in floodwater, hypothermia and electrical injuries. According to CATDAT data by RiskLayer GmMH, 5582 lives were lost in relation to flooding in EEA-38 countries between 1980 and 2022.
