DESCRIPTION:ESPON and the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU are j
 ointly organising a seminar serving as a policy-research platform for enga
 ging with leading researchers from around the world in the fields of regio
 nal development and resilience\, exploring the concept of 'exaptive resili
 ence'. It means that existing technologies\, behaviors\, or systems—orig
 inally developed for other purposes—are repurposed or co-opted to help r
 espond to climate impacts. The seminar will present empirical findings fro
 m a comprehensive ESPON study on this concept\, examining how regions\, pa
 rticularly those in peripheral or border areas\, adapt to external challen
 ges by creatively repurposing existing resources and capabilities.
