Climate change is bringing along more extreme weather events. The European Commission presents the latest available evidence on disaster risks, such as floods, wildfires or diseases, that threaten the EU, drawing on the national risk assessments developed by the EU Member States and on the Commission’s cross-sectoral policy and scientific work.

Report on assessment of tipping point risks and societal opportunities

More than 200 scientists from around the world, contributed to the ‘Global Tipping Points Report’: a comprehensive report on Earth system tipping points and their potential impacts and opportunities for societal change. With global warming now on course to breach 1.5°C, at least five earth system tipping points are likely to be triggered. Based on an assessment of 26 negative Earth system tipping points, the report concludes “business as usual” is no longer possible, with rapid changes to nature and societies already happening.

This synthesis report identifies and prioritises climate-related risks and opportunities for Switzerland until 2060. The results from eight regional case studies conducted with the participation of experts from science, industry and administration have been merged into this synthesis.

Climate Impact and Risk Assessment 2021 for Germany

The German "Climate Impact and Risk Assessment for Germany" (KWRA) was undertaken by 25 federal authorities under the lead of the Federal Environment Agency and on behalf of the Federal German Government. 102 Climate impacts and 13 fields of action were investigated and assessed. This summary report presents the contents of the six sub-reports for all fields of action, next to the main contents of the integrated assessment; an overall consideration of climate risks without and with adaptation; the spatial patterns and the urgent needs for action, as well as the need for further research.
