Climate Impact and Risk Assessment 2021 for Germany
The German "Climate Impact and Risk Assessment for Germany" (KWRA) was undertaken by 25 federal authorities under the lead of the Federal Environment Agency and on behalf of the Federal German Government. 102 Climate impacts and 13 fields of action were investigated and assessed. This summary report presents the contents of the six sub-reports for all fields of action, next to the main contents of the integrated assessment; an overall consideration of climate risks without and with adaptation; the spatial patterns and the urgent needs for action, as well as the need for further research.

German €4 billion action plan for natural climate protection will also benefit adaptation to climate change
The German Federal Action Plan on Nature-based Solutions for Climate and Biodiversity will play a substantial role in achieving the German government’s climate and biodiversity goals and in measures to adapt to the impacts of the climate crisis. The action plan is aligned with the Immediate Action Programme for Climate Adaptation and the Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change.

German adaptation project on heat stress in cities extended
The “HeatResilientCity” project, investigating since 2017 on how urban districts and buildings can be better adapted to heat, has been extended by two years by the German Federal Environment Ministry. In the second phase of the project, the plan is to familiarize practitioners with the subject of heat adaptation in urban districts, to form new networks and to jointly develop suitable tools and decision-making aids for urban and open space planning.

Second Hamburg Climate Report published
The report sheds light on the necessary responses to climate change in Northern Germany. With key issues such as temperature, risen by approximately 1.4 degrees Celsius since 1881; increased amount of precipitation, while dry spells in spring now last longer than they did a few decades ago.
