Adapting Dutch agriculture to climate change: a review.

There is a big societal and political demand for an assessment of the possibilities of adaptation. This study aims to explore the window of opportunities for the agricultural sector based on a literature review. This review looks at the options to adapt agriculture and to take full benefit of positive changes and minimize negative effects of climate change. This review starts with a brief discussion on agricultural land use in the Netherlands, followed by an overview of the expected climatic changes in the Netherlands and the consequences of land use change on current agricultural practices. Subsequently, adaptation strategies as suggested in the literature are summarized and discussed.
