Description

Agricultural risk assessment and risk management has been the objective of two projects: Agricultural Insurances I and II. Both have intended to contribute to the debate on the possible inclusion of risk management within the Common Agricultural Policy. The two projects were performed under the request of the European Parliament. A summary of the results of two studies carried out by the MARS unit on agricultural insurances and crop risk management has been published as JRC reference report. The report contains key information and figures on the existing risk management tools in the EU. An analysis of potential index insurances highlights their feasibility problems in the European context.
