ClimRisk

The outputs presented on this website are 500m resolution maps for the Czech Republic and grid layers at the spatial resolution of the E-OBS dataset (approx. 10 km) for the Central Europe region. There are 4 SSP scenarios describing the projected future evolution of the world and a set of 7 CMIP6 GCM models accurately representing the original larger ensemble of about 20 models. Daily data of basic meteorological variables (air temperature, precipitation, wind speed, humidity, sunshine and radiation) are available from which the necessary characteristics can be derived, including those describing extremes.

What you can do with it

Input

  • Select a location, climate variable or index, emissions scenario and time horizon
  • Explore historical, current and projected climate information based on observations, reanalysis and climate-model outputs
  • Compare multiple SSP scenarios and model results for Central Europe.

Output

  • Climate maps, datasets and indicators for temperature, precipitation, wind, humidity, sunshine and radiation
  • Derived climate indices, including indicators of climate extremes
  • Climate information at approximately 10 km resolution across Central Europe and up to 500 m for Czechia, with uncertainty information

Use it to

  • Assess current and future climate conditions and hazards
  • Identify climate-change hotspots and support climate risk and vulnerability assessments
  • Provide climate evidence for adaptation planning and climate-proofing of investments
  • Support sector-specific assessments, including agriculture, biodiversity, health, urban planning, transport and water management

Why is it relevant to climate adaptation

Provides high-quality climate projections, indicators and hazard information that support climate risk and vulnerability assessments across multiple sectors. By combining climate scenarios, model ensembles and uncertainty information, it helps users build a robust evidence base for adaptation planning and climate-resilient investments.

Used in

  • Climate-proofing of investments and infrastructure projects
  • Climate risk and vulnerability assessments
  • National and regional adaptation planning
  • Sector-specific climate impact assessments
  • Czech national Climate Proofing assessment framework
  • High-resolution climate analysis for Czechia and Central Europe
