The EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change is proud to welcome 16 new Charter Signatories, marking another important milestone in building a climate-resilient Europe through regional and local action.

The newly joined signatories span across Europe and beyond, bringing fresh energy, diverse expertise, and local knowledge to the Mission community. By signing the Mission Charter, each region or municipality affirms its commitment to strengthening climate resilience, sharing knowledge, and advancing local adaptation planning in line with EU ambitions.

The new signatories are:

  • Åland, Finland
  • Aradippou, Cyprus
  • Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Serbia
  • Barcelona Metropolitan Area, Spain
  • Cluj Metropolitan Area, Romania
  • Intermunicipal Community of Alentejo Central, Portugal
  • Karatay, Turkey
  • Malaga City, Spain
  • Marche, Italy
  • Municipality of Budapest, Hungary
  • Network City Twente (Enschede, Hengelo, Almelo municipalities), Netherlands
  • Pangaio, Greece
  • Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, Turkey
  • Tipperary County, Ireland
  • Viana do Castelo, Portugal
  • Østfold County, Norway

These new signatories join a growing network of over 300 regions and local authorities already engaged with the Mission. Each will now have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of support activities—such as capacity building, peer learning, and practical tools like the Regional Adaptation Support Tool (RAST), as well as engage with peers through the Mission Community of Practice, all coordinated via the MIP4Adapt platform.

The growing number of Mission Signatories shows how local and regional authorities across Europe are stepping up to tackle the climate challenge. From knowledge exchange to co-creation of solutions, this collective effort is helping to translate climate ambition into action on the ground.

As more communities commit to becoming climate resilient, the Mission continues to grow as a movement for change, built on partnership, solidarity, and shared learning.
