Extreme heat, widespread drought typify European climate in 2022

Last year, Europe experienced its hottest summer and second warmest year on record, according to the 2022 edition of the Copernicus Climate Change Service’s (C3S) European State of the Climate (ESOTC) report. Globally, the last eight years have been the warmest on record, while in recent decades Europe has warmed faster overall than other continents.
