First Baltic Sea Climate Change Fact Sheet shows latest scientific knowledge on climate change in the Baltic Sea
09 Sep 2021To provide a better understanding of the effects of climate change in the Baltic Sea, Baltic Earth and HELCOM have recently published the first Baltic Sea Climate Change Fact Sheet. The publication compiles the latest available science in the region indicating that the water temperature and sea level will rise in the Baltic Sea, and sea ice cover will decrease.

This research summarises the direct and indirect evidence that links climate change to lung health and maps out policy priorities to prevent and curb the effects of climate change on lung health.
Reduced flood risks for over 1,300 people living along Slovenian rivers
01 Sep 2021To prevent floodings, as Slovenia had experienced in the past, a series of measures have been taken along the rivers Meža and Mislinja as part of a project, funded by the EU Regional Policy, carried out by the Slovenian Water Agency. The project will help to ensure a 100-year flood protection in the urban areas and agricultural areas included in the project.
European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA 2021) - Rewatch the events

The theme of the conference was inspiring climate adaptation action today for a resilient future. A series of nine webinars was organised from 25 May to 10 June, in the run-up to a high-level event on 22 June.
Official governmental reporting on national adaptation actions per country with more detailed information now online
30 Aug 2021The Climate-ADAPT country profiles were previously updated in 2019. The information was based on reporting according to the EU ‘Monitoring Mechanism Regulation’. The current country profiles display information on national adaptation actions reported by EU member states under Regulation (EU) 2018/1999 on the Governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action. Now, comprehensive and detailed information on EU Member State’s national climate change adaptation planning and strategies, and implemented and planned actions to facilitate adaptation to climate change is available on the Climate-ADAPT.
New method to assess climate risks to real estate
13 Aug 2021Together with various real estate parties, the Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, and Climate Adaptation Services are working on a standard approach to assess the physical climate risk for real estate portfolios. A standard approach is desirable to create a level playing field in which there is transparency about the method and data used, and the assumptions underlying them.
Main results of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report presented: Climate change widespread, rapid, and intensifying
09 Aug 2021The IPCC is currently producing its Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), which consists of contributions from the three IPCC Working Groups and a Synthesis Report. The Working Group I contribution was published, and the main results were presented in a press conference on 9 August 2021. This report will be a key contribution to the UNFCCC COP26, which is starting in less than three months.
Public consultation on WHO draft COP26 Special Report on Climate Change and Health
03 Aug 2021The World Health Organization (WHO) launches public consultation on draft COP26 Special report on climate change and health, with the deadline for comments on the 25 August 2021. The COP26 Special Report: 'The Health Argument for Climate Action', aims to raise the health voice, health arguments and health urgency of tackling the climate crisis. It reflects the growing evidence and availability of solutions to maximize the health benefits of tackling climate change, while also offering a clear set of asks and proposed solutions from the global health community to climate change policy makers at COP26.
Adriadapt web platform: a resilience and adaptation information platform for Adriatic cities and towns
30 Jul 2021The EU Interreg Project ADRIADAPT has come to an end. The Adriadapt multilingual web platform now acts as a support tool for each municipality in the Adriatic region offering solutions to address predicted impacts in this area, and as a guide for planning and implementing resilience and adaptation plans.
Peer-to-Peer learning on indicators and strategies for adaptation to climate change
28 Jul 2021In the framework of the EU project ENERGee Watch, partners are developing Peer-to-Peer learning courses targeted to local authorities, and local and regional energy and climate agencies. One course is dedicated to adaptation to climate change: climate change adaptation and assessment, methods and data for diagnosis, indicators and strategies, and guides participants in building their own roadmap to ensure that adaptation to climate change is integrated into energy-climate action plans. The courses will be held online in 2021 and 2022.
