New film about adaptation in Sweden
23 Jun 2020The film "Adapt to a future climate – examples from municipalities” offers an introduction to how society can be adapted to a changing climate and why it is important. Representatives from several Swedish municipalities present how they have dealt with some of their challenges. The film has been produced by Swedish National Knowledge Centre for Climate Change Adaptation.
PLACARD project finished: more coherence between climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction
22 Jun 2020Learning to deal with extremes: climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction communities can share experiences and knowledge for better collaboration and coherence. That is what the PLACARD platform did in the past years. Being confronted with the COVID-19 extreme, the project succeeded in adapting our final conference to an online version. The materials are accessible on the website and can further play a role in on-going dialogues.
Climate change adaptation and mitigation in fisheries and aquaculture - online course

Participation processes on climate change adaptation: reflection and recommendations
15 Jun 2020The study presents an analysis of 22 participation processes on adaptation to climate change in Germany and gives recommendations for improving such processes. The results indicate that the use of visioning methods seems suitable for motivating climate adaptation measures. In order to systematically improve participation procedures, participants surveys assessing their perceptions of the used participation method and its motivational effect should become the standard.

11 Jun 2020The European Commission presents an overview of the performance of the EU economic sectors related to oceans and the coastal environment. It includes a chapter on the impact of climate change on the ocean. With a turnover of €750 billion in 2018, the EU blue economy is in good health.

Making sense of climate scenarios: new toolkit available for decision makers
03 Jun 2020To make climate scenarios work for decision makers, an international team of researchers has developed a comprehensive interactive online platform. The SENSES platform is the first of its kind to provide the tools to use scenarios, ranging from climate impacts to mitigation and energy options to a broader public beyond science.
Climateurope Festival 2020 will be held virtually
02 Jun 2020The third Climateurope festival, 'Climate Information at Your Service', is reorganized towards a series of web-festivals, named 'webstivals'. Each webstival will be a virtual meeting lasting 3-4 hours on a single day, with multiple webstival events planned over the course of summer and autumn 2020. The boosted dialogue between science and society will support Climate Services on European and national levels.
