Users can explore interactive maps and charts information on heatwaves, floods, droughts and wildfires, and the rise of climate-sensitive diseases like dengue fever.
Monitoring report on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals in an European context
06 Jun 2023The analysis in this publication builds on the EU Sustainable Development Goals indicator set, developed in cooperation with a large number of stakeholders. The report also covers progress on climate action, including on adaptation to climate change. Among others, this 2023 edition also analyses the impacts of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic during 2022 and the beginning of 2023 that are visible in Eurostat’s official statistics.
The EU 2022 wildfire season was the second worst on record
06 Jun 2023Last year, wildfires in 45 observed countries burnt an area about the size of Montenegro, hitting Natura 2000 protected sites hard. This year, France has already surpassed its annual average of fire-ravaged area.
ETC CA paper ‘Just resilience for Europe: Towards measuring just resilience in climate change adaptation

It also offers a structured overview of justice-related impacts, risks, and interventions based on current science and policies.
European State of the Climate report published
25 May 2023The 2022 release of the European State of the Climate (ESOTC) report, compiled by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), implemented by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) on behalf of the European Commission, was published. It provides a detailed analysis of the past calendar year, with descriptions of climate conditions and events, and explores the associated variations in key climate variables from across all parts of the Earth system. The ESOTC also gives updates on the long-term trends of key climate indicators.

Extreme heat, widespread drought typify European climate in 2022
12 May 2023Last year, Europe experienced its hottest summer and second warmest year on record, according to the 2022 edition of the Copernicus Climate Change Service’s (C3S) European State of the Climate (ESOTC) report. Globally, the last eight years have been the warmest on record, while in recent decades Europe has warmed faster overall than other continents.

European Climate Data Explorer upgraded and with new improved functionalities
11 May 2023The European Climate Data Explorer, offering access to climate indices provided by the Copernicus Climate Change Service, is now presenting reanalysis indices for historical and present time, harmonised calculation of indicators, new water-related indicators, and offers more interactive and user-friendly visualisation options.
EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change Portal launched
28 Apr 2023The new launched EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change Portal provides access to knowledge, data and resources to support climate resilience planning, as well as information on projects and news specific to the Mission on Adaptation on Climate Change. Through the Portal, regional and local authorities can access support in planning and preparing for climate resilience. As part of Climate-ADAPT, this portal is developed by the European Commission, the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the Mission on Implementation platform (MIP4Adapt) consortium.
