Description

Climate-and-freshwater.info and its associated database present information on the impacts of climate change in freshwater ecosystems. The website is structured in a way that allows the user to find desirable information more easily and display the results in a straightforward manner. It gives information on six main topics:

1) overview, including impacts of climate change in freshwater ecosystems;

2) species affected by climate change, including a climate change vulnerability score for freshwater species and a database that currently contains information of 1940 species;

3) Indicators for climate change impact;

4) Current methodologies for assessing climate change impacts;

5) Selected case studies; and

6) Adaptation and mitigation measures. these topics are structured by ecosystem types: rivers, lakes and wetlands and climatic regions: cold, temperate and warm.

The portal contains many relevant links and reports on these topics. Climate-and-freshwater.info is a product of Euro-Limpacs, a major EU-funded Integrated Project (EU Contract number GOCE-CT-2003-505540).
