Adaptation of the Territorial Planning to climate changes within Mont Blanc Space (AdaPT Mont-Blanc)

Description:

AdaPT Mont-Blanc is a strategic project of the Espace Mont-Blanc resulting from the priorities identified by the "Stratégie d'Avenir du Massif du Mont-Blanc" and financed by the European Program of Territorial Cooperation Alcotra Italy-France 2014-2020.

The project develops tools for planning climate change adaptation actions and policies that can be integrated and adopted by public institutions of the Mont Blanc Area at different levels (local, regional), through a participatory approach and a cross-sectoral approach. The objective of the project is to provide the Espace Mont-Blanc selected officials and decision-makers with an overview of recent and expected impacts of climate change on natural environments and priority sectors of socio-economic activity. Natural environments refer to the ensemble of physical (glaciers, snow cover,  and permafrost) and biotic (biodiversity, forests, grasslands, etc.) components that make up the Mont-Blanc landscape. Local stakeholders were called upon to identify, among the many sectors of human activity that are impacted by climate change both at the local and global scale, the sectors they wished to have prioritized. As such, the project is focused on natural resources (water, agriculture, forests, biodiversity), tourism, and natural hazards. Through the tools, initiatives and devices produced within the framework of this project, Espace Mont-Blanc offers elected officials, land managers, decision-makers and technicians the opportunity to share knowledge on global warming, to benefit from a common framework for reflection and exchange on best planning practices.
