Description

To contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under a changing climate, agricultural production systems need to simultaneously tackle three intertwined challenges: sustainably increasing agricultural productivity and incomes; building resilience to the impacts of climate change; and contributing to climate change mitigation where possible.

This report presents a summary of the contents of the second edition of the Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) Sourcebook, developed by FAO in 2017. The Climate-Smart Agriculture Sourcebook aims to better guide policy makers, programme managers, sectoral experts, academics, extensionists, as well as practitioners to make the agricultural sectors (crops, livestock, fisheries and forestry) more sustainable and productive, while responding to the challenges of climate change and food security.

The second edition comprises a new digital platform of the fully revised CSA Sourcebook that reflects new scientific insights as well as valuable CSA implementation experience obtained since the publication of the first 2013 edition. On the digital platform, the Sourcebook will become a “living” document in which any section or module can be updated to reflect the evolving scientific insights and practical experience in CSA.
