Flood Risk Management in China - Policy Brief N°1 - CORFU FP7 project

Description

Beijing is one of the seven case studies of the CORFU project, established to investigate state-of-the-art methods to increase flood resilience in urban area from Europe and Asia.

This policy brief describes how the research carried out in the context of the CORFU project has led to changes in the Chinese National Urban Drainage Policy, bringing technical and scientific innovations to be implemented into planning policy.

As a result, the considered framework demonstrated to be useful both in assessing flood risk and the effectiveness of different strategies in Beijing. These lessons can be transferred to other cities in China.
