European Commission reveals winners of LIFE Awards 2022
On 31 May 2022, the LIFE Programme announced the five winners of the annual LIFE Awards at a ceremony held during EU Green Week. The LIFE Awards recognise the most innovative, inspirational and effective LIFE projects in three categories: nature protection, environment and climate action. The LIFE VinEcoS (Optimizing Ecosystem Services in Viniculture facing Climate Change) project became the winner for climate action.

Blauer Kompass 2022: new edition of yearly Adaptation Award launched in Germany
The 'Blauer Kompass' Adaptation Award is the highest state award in Germany for climate adaptation projects, organised by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, and the German Environment Agency (UBA). The aim of the competition, which runs from 18 January to 25 March 2022, is to present solutions for preparing for and adapting to the impacts of climate change, such as heat, droughts and severe rain. The awards ceremony will be held on 16 September 2022.

Call for applications for Mediterranean Climate Change Adaptation Awards
The third edition of this competition was launched in the frame of the 5th Anniversary of the Paris Climate Agreement. It is aimed at public stakeholders, members of the private sector and NGOs which are taking action and developing solutions to adapt the Mediterranean regions to the changing climate. Applications closing date: 15 April 2021.

A resilient climate change forest, urban green as a cool oasis in the middle of a hot city, climate-friendly building materials made from natural resources, and a coaching programme to assist municipalities in adapting to climate change; these initiatives are the winners of the 2020 year’s Blauer Kompass award held in Germany.

German cities and municipalities are invited to apply for the 12th German Sustainability Award, which is the national award for excellence in sustainability, rewarding the sustainability efforts and achievements of German cities and municipalities across three categories: small-sized cities, medium-sized cities and large-sized cities.

Young Academics Award of the Alpine Convention: Call for Applications
The fourth edition of the Young Academics Award of the Alpine Convention focuses on a key aspect for climate change adaptation: Sustainable water management in the Alps. Outstanding Master theses on the topic will be rewarded. Applications are open until 31 October 2018.
