Establishment of Climate Action Regional Offices in Ireland
The Irish Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment has made 10 million Euro available over 5 years to establish four Climate Action Regional Offices (CAROs). The establishment of the offices is a key action under Ireland's National Adaptation Framework and National Mitigation Plan and will have an important role in coordinating climate action at local government level in Ireland.

Draft guidelines for institutional strengthening in synergies between CCA and DRR
The PLACARD work provides guidance on how institutions working on climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk reduction (DRR), can take advantage of synergies between their networks, their capacities and ensure coherence in order to reduce the impacts of extreme events in the light of a changing climate. This work will be further extended during 2019.

Paper published: Indicators for adaptation to climate change at national level - Lessons from emerging practice in Europe
As countries gain more experience in developing and implementing national climate change adaptation strategies and plans, the need for understanding their progress and effects is also increasing, especially through indicators for monitoring and evaluation of adaptation to climate change at national level. This Technical Paper contributes to the evolving knowledge base, and is accompanied by an annex including a database of national adaptation indicator sets from five European countries collected in 2017 and 2018.

EU project RESIN has developed tools and methods for urban adaptation
The recently concluded RESIN project has developed three practical tools and methods, along with an overarching decision support framework, to aid cities in understanding climate risk, and in designing and implementing climate adaptation strategies for their local contexts.

WHO report published on public health and climate change adaptation policies in the EU
The WHO Regional Office for Europe and the European Commission have developed a project to analyse health policies to address adaptation to climate change in EU countries and to compile a selection of good practice case studies. This report includes the findings and a review of past trends and future projections of selected weather- and climate-related hazards, including their health impacts.

European Commission calls for a climate neutral Europe by 2050
The EC adopted a strategic long-term vision for a climate neutral economy by 2050: 'A Clean Planet for all'. The strategy shows how Europe can lead the way to climate neutrality by investing into realistic technological solutions, empowering citizens, and aligning action in key areas such as industrial policy, finance, or research.

French National Adaptation Plan for Climate Change for the period 2018-2022 launched
The objective of the second French National Adaptation Plan for Climate Change (PNACC-2) for the period 2018-2022, launched in December 2018, is to better prepare the French society to climate change, involving the main sectors of the economy (agriculture, industry, tourism) and territories. Based on the recommendations of the assessment of PNACC 2011-2015, the development of PNACC-2 was based on a national consultation that mobilized over 300 representatives from civil society, experts and representatives of local authorities and ministries.

LIFE project ADAPTA BLUES is launched
The 5-year project ADAPTA BLUES, funded by the LIFE Programme, focuses on the restoration of estuarine ecosystems as a Nature Based Solution to remediate the risks related to climate change in coastal areas. The aim is to demonstrate that the conservation and restoration of estuarine ecosystems is an efficient strategy to enhance adaptation to climate change in coastal areas of the European Atlantic coast.
