On 15 October, the EEA will publish 'Europe's state of water 2024: the need for improved water resilience', a major report highlighting the importance of improving Europe’s water resilience.

At this event, the EEA will present the key findings of the report, followed by an intervention by Ms. Veronica Manfredi, Director for Zero Pollution at DG Environment of the European Commission. The event will conclude with a Q&A session.

The report includes the latest facts and figures on European surface and groundwaters and outlines three overarching challenges facing future European water management:

  • protecting and restoring aquatic ecosystems;
  • achieving the zero-pollution ambition;
  • adapting to water scarcity, drought and flood risks.
