A green participatory budget gives citizens a direct say in how public budgets are allocated and spent for addressing climate change. In this session, we will share information and examples of how these processes have been undertaken and will work together on the design of a simulated regional participatory budget process to allow our citizens to participate in the selection of adaptation options to address a particular challenge.
Learn from Turku, Finland about its experience with green participatory budgeting to give citizens a direct say in how public budgets are allocated and spent for addressing climate change. The session will include a hands-on exercise to understand how to design and implement participatory budgets, including identifying key stakeholders and ensuring their active participation and existing mechanisms and criteria to gather and assess project proposals from citizens.
