Objective of the funding programme

The European Climate Initiative (EUKI), launched by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), supports climate action projects across Europe. It aims to contribute to the EU's climate goals by fostering cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the sharing of best practices among Member States. EUKI focuses on key areas such as climate-neutral mobility, climate policy, carbon removals and sinks, energy transition, climate-neutral buildings, just transition, and a sustainable economy. Additionally, Additionally, EUKI recognizes the importance of climate adaptation and supports initiatives that enhance resilience to climate change impacts, ensuring that communities can effectively adapt to a changing climate while mitigating future risks. For example, under Climate-Neutral Mobility, EUKI might fund projects that develop climate-resilient transport infrastructure, such as flood-resistant railways and elevated roads, which ensure that transportation networks remain functional during extreme weather events.
