Objective of the funding programme

The programme provides funding for projects that contribute to a planned, structured, and coordinated transformation towards the permanent and extensive rewetting of wetlands across different regions. Intact wetlands are crucial not only for climate protection (through greenhouse gas storage) but also for maintaining a functional landscape water balance, making them an important natural tool for climate adaptation.
