The National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC) focuses on the Mediterranean, a biodiversity hotspot, to tackle global challenges by protecting Italian biodiversity. Its objectives include monitoring rare and endangered species, managing invasive species, and developing strategies for ecological restoration in line with the Nature Restoration Law. NBFC aims to enhance biodiversity through innovation, creating economic, environmental, and social value. It provides scientific support for protected area management, ecological restoration, and the valorisation of biodiversity for new products. The centre also promotes sustainable production processes, biotech innovations, and green jobs, revitalising key sectors like agriculture, fisheries, and aquaculture.
