The objective of the PNRR (Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza) in Italy is to address the socio-economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic through sustainable growth and resilience. It aims to modernise infrastructure, promote digitalisation, enhance sustainability, and strengthen the healthcare system. The PNRR also focuses on reforms to improve the efficiency of public administration and judicial systems, aiming to boost long-term economic growth and ensure Italy's recovery from the pandemic's impact. The Green Revolution and Ecological Transition component of Italy's PNRR has a total allocation of €55.52 billion (28.56% of the total plan). Regarding adaptation projects, the most relevant are: digitalisation of national parks (€100 million, 2021–2026); rewilding of the Po River area (€357 million, 2021–2026); restoration and protection of seabeds and marine habitats (€400 million, 2021–2026); and protection and enhancement of urban and peri-urban green areas (€210 million, 2021–2026).
