Naturfonden supports projects in research, management, and communication that contribute to richer and more diverse nature. Priority is given to: (1) innovative projects that challenge existing approaches and develop new practices; (2) projects implemented in partnership with relevant stakeholders; and (3) initiatives that raise awareness of nature and strengthen the connection between Danes and the natural environment. Local authorities can also use the fund for climate adaptation by securing support for initiatives that enhance the resilience of natural ecosystems. Funding has been awarded for biodiversity protection and ecosystem restoration projects aimed at increasing adaptive capacity to climate change.
