The European Investment Bank (EIB) is one of the biggest financial institutions, working closely with other EU institutions to foster European integration and development. As the EU Climate Bank, it is one of the largest financiers of climate-related projects worldwide. In addition to supporting climate change mitigation, the EIB plays a critical role in financing climate adaptation projects aimed at strengthening the resilience of communities and ecosystems, helping them better cope with and adapt to the impacts of changing environmental conditions. These include initiatives focused on sustainable infrastructure, climate-resilient agriculture, water management systems, and urban development. The EIB is also a key player in promoting sustainable energy, green transport solutions, and circular economy models, helping to transition to low-carbon economies across Europe and beyond.

Is a Consortium required to apply for the funding?
For larger, more complex, or cross-border projects, a consortium might be encouraged or even required. However, for smaller or localised projects, local or regional authorities can typically apply for funding independently, without the need for a consortium.
