The European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) is a key EU funding instrument that supports territorial cohesion and people investment across EU Member States. While the primary focus of ESF+ is on employment, social inclusion, education, and health, certain areas also align with adaptation to climate change. For instance, ESF+ can fund projects aimed at reskilling and upskilling individuals for the transition to a green and digital Europe. This includes enhancing education and training systems to adapt to new skills and qualifications, fostering the upskilling of the workforce, and creating new jobs in sectors such as environmental protection, climate action, energy, circular economy, and bioeconomy.
