Objective of the funding programme

The National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC) focuses on the Mediterranean, a biodiversity hotspot, to address global challenges by protecting Italian biodiversity, monitoring rare and endangered species, and managing invasive species. Its goals include developing strategies for ecological restoration, aligned with the Nature Restoration Law, and enhancing biodiversity through innovation that creates economic, environmental, and social value. NBFC provides scientific support for protected area management, ecological restoration, and biodiversity valorization for new products. It also fosters sustainable production processes, biotech innovations, and green jobs, revitalizing key sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and aquaculture.
