The NeighbourWood Scheme provides financial assistance to create woodland amenities for local communities. Funding is available to support both the establishment of woodland on greenfield sites and the enhancement of existing sites. Support is provided under three distinct elements:
the set-up of new NeighbourWood areas on open greenfield sites,
the enhancement of existing woodlands already used as or proposed for NeighbourWood development, and
the installation and upgrade of recreational facilities.
NeighbourWoods serve as accessible spaces for the community to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, such as strolling, family outings, picnicking, and exercising, thereby promoting both environmental and social well-being.
