Objective of the funding programme

The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) supports the development, repair, and promotion of outdoor recreational infrastructure to enhance tourism and recreational opportunities in rural Ireland. Aligned with the National Outdoor Recreation Strategy, it encourages outdoor activities, improves accessibility, and protects the natural environment.

Projects must integrate climate action and biodiversity measures, such as nature-based solutions, tree planting, and sustainable drainage systems, making the scheme highly relevant to climate adaptation objectives.
