Objective of the funding programme

The Environmental Investment Fund Programme (EKII) aims to contribute to the prevention of global climate change, support adaptation to its impacts, and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This is achieved through a range of actions:

  • Increasing the energy efficiency of buildings or technological equipment and vehicles.
  • Expanding the use of renewable energy resources.
  • Promoting adaptation to climate change on a national and regional scale.
  • Developing environmental technologies that enhance energy efficiency, use renewable energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions in technological processes, or support climate change adaptation.
  • Implementing climate policy measures focused on greenhouse gas reduction and climate adaptation, as well as preparing research, planning, and technical documents necessary for sectoral integration.
  • Carrying out educational measures to improve public understanding and knowledge of climate change, encourage changes in consumer behaviour, and support the development of a low-carbon economy in Latvia.
