RO-ADAPT

RO-ADAPT is Romania’s national climate change adaptation platform. It provides harmonised climate and non-climate data, indicators, interactive maps, time-series graphs, downloadable datasets, standardised geospatial services/APIs, sectoral studies and adaptation resources. It supports evidence-based assessment of climate risks and vulnerabilities and the identification and prioritisation of adaptation measures at national and subnational levels.

Why is it relevant to climate adaptation

Functions as Romania’s national adaptation knowledge platform and geoportal, bringing climate projections, non-climate indicators, sectoral evidence and adaptation resources into one bilingual access point. It serves both non-specialists using the simple interactive map and experts needing downloads, metadata or APIs. This helps users move from understanding risks to identifying and prioritising measures across 13 national sectors, although some advanced documentation is incomplete or available only in Romanian and the projections currently use RCP rather than newer SSP scenarios.

Used in

  • National and subnational climate-adaptation planning in Romania.
  • Analysis at development-region, county and local administrative unit levels.
  • Romanian sectoral adaptation work across agriculture, biodiversity, business, cultural heritage, energy, finance, forestry, health, tourism, transport, urban areas and water management.
  • National public-sector climate platform hosted and maintained by the Romanian National Meteorological Administration.
  • Open reuse of Romanian climate and adaptation data under CC BY 4.0.
