Buildings can be vulnerable to climate change. Extreme weather and changing climatic conditions can damage and degrade construction materials, compromise structural integrity, and even lead to their collapse. Therefore, the European Commission has published a new technical guidance on climate adaptation in buildings. The report synthesises existing methods, specifications, best practices and guidance for construction and renovation. The technical guidance and the best practice guidance will help to assess the climate resilience of new and existing buildings, and plan upgrades accordingly.
