More forest fires in the Alps due to climate change
Climate change can lead to an increased number of severe forest fires in the Alpine region, resulting in the destruction of alpine protection forests and recreational areas, a rapid increase of natural hazard risk, and enormous costs for fire suppression. Concrete recommendations for policy makers help them to implement an integrated forest fire management.
