Description

On 31st March 2010 sixteen Government Departments published Departmental Adaptation Plans (DAPs) and Carbon Reduction Delivery Plans. These complementary plans set out policies on climate change adaptation and mitigation respectively. The DAPs identified individual Departments’ policies and priorities in relation to adapting to climate change. These include describing the steps being taken to build skills and knowledge of climate change within Departments, and the work being undertaken to assess the risks to Departmental estates. In light of the continuing commitment across Government to put in place measures to adapt to climate change, each central Government Department has produced a short update on their DAPs as set out below. There is also an update from the cross-Government Adapting to Climate Change programme. These updates explain the importance of climate change adaptation to the Government’s policy programme and the Green Economy; highlight the work on adaptation that has been done since the publication of the DAPs; and set out future adaptation priorities.
