Il-proġett HYDRALAB+ ilaqqa’ flimkien ir-riċerkaturi, l-industrija u l-partijiet ikkonċernati Ewropej biex itejbu r-riċerka sperimentali, l-immudellar numeriku relatat u l-istudji fuq il-post immirati lejn l-adattament għat-tibdil fil-klima.
L-HYDRALAB + attwali jsegwi l-HYDRALAB IV preċedenti, li ntemm f’Ottubru 2014.
Minħabba t-tibdil fil-klima ħafna pajjiżi madwar id-dinja qed jiffaċċjaw skariki estremi tax-xmajjar u livelli ogħla tal-ilma baħar b’avvenimenti ta’ maltempati aktar frekwenti u kundizzjonijiet dejjem akbar tal-mewġ u tal-fluss tax-xmajjar tul il-kosti u l-marġnijiet riparji tagħhom. Huma meħtieġa approċċi ġodda u soluzzjonijiet ibbażati fuq in-natura biex jiġu evitati avvenimenti ta’ erożjoni u ta’ tgħarriq b’riskju għoli. Ir-riċerka sperimentali mill-proġett Hydralab+ se tipprovdi għarfien u għodod biex dawn il-problemi jiġu ġestiti b’mod aktar effettiv.
HYDRALAB+ jinkludi tliet komponenti ewlenin:
- Attivitajiet Konġunti ta' Riċerka, li jiffaċilitaw il-progress fid-dixxiplina kif ukoll isaħħu l-koerenza tal-infrastruttura sperimentali ta' riċerka idrawlika u ambjentali;
- Aċċess Transnazzjonali, li jistieden riċerkaturi ta' ġenerazzjoni ġdida mill-Ewropa kollha biex iwettqu r-riċerka sperimentali tagħhom f'faċilitajiet sperimentali kbar u uniċi mfassla għar-riċerka dwar il-fluss, il-mewġ u s-silġ f'10 istituti u universitajiet ewlenin fl-Ewropa;
- Attivitajiet ta’ Networking, l-organizzazzjoni ta’ sett ta’ sessjonijiet ta’ ħidma tematiċi għall-partijiet ikkonċernati sabiex jitnaqqas id-distakk bejn ix-xjenzati, li qed jaħdmu fuq żviluppi ġodda, il-manifatturi ta’ tekniki ta’ kejl b’teknoloġija avvanzata, dawk li jfasslu l-politika u l-utenti finali (konsulenti, kuntratturi) li jistgħu jagħmlu użu mill-kisbiet tal-proġetti.
