Het consortium van de Europese Onderzoeksruimte voor klimaatdiensten (ERA4CS) heeft tot doel onderzoek op het gebied van aanpassing aan de klimaatverandering, mitigatie en rampenrisicobeheer te stimuleren, zodat regio’s, steden en belangrijke economische sectoren kansen kunnen ontwikkelen en het leiderschap van Europa kunnen versterken.
Klimaatdiensten bieden kennis om de gevolgen van klimaatvariabiliteit en -verandering het hoofd te bieden, alsook richtsnoeren voor onderzoekers en besluitvormers, zowel in het beleid als in het bedrijfsleven. ERA4CS richt zich op de ontwikkeling van een “klimaatinformatievertaling”-laag die “gebruikersgemeenschappen” en “klimaatwetenschapssysteem” overbrugt.
