Description

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs - Adaptation to Climate Change Programme (Defra, UK) has produced this report outlining a proposed approach to measuring adaptation to climate change at the national level. Because the impacts of climate change will have an effect on the most crucial areas of our society – public health, energy supply, water supply, transport etc. – we need to be sure that the action we are taking to prepare is having the desired effect and, as with all Government programmes, it is crucial that the Adapting to Climate Change Programme is achieving maximum value for money. This means we need to establish indicators that will enable us to monitor progress in preparing the country for the effects of climate change.
