Konsortiet for det europæiske forskningsrum for klimatjenester (ERA4CS) har til formål at fremme forskning i tilpasning til klimaændringer, modvirkning af klimaændringer og katastroferisikostyring, så regioner, byer og centrale økonomiske sektorer kan udvikle muligheder og styrke Europas lederskab.
Klimatjenester leverer viden til at imødegå virkningerne af klimavariationer og -ændringer samt vejledning til både forskere og beslutningstagere inden for politik og erhvervsliv. ERA4CS fokuserer på udvikling af et lag til oversættelse af klimaoplysninger, der bygger bro mellem "brugersamfund" og "klimavidenskabssystem". Det indebærer udvikling af værktøjer, metoder, standarder og kvalitetskontrol for pålidelige, kvalificerede og skræddersyede oplysninger, der kræves af de forskellige feltaktører til intelligente beslutninger.
