URBiNAT-projektet fokuserer på genopretning og integration af socialt dårligt stillede boligområder og fremmer inklusiv og innovativ natur i byerne. Sund korridor-konceptet tager naturbaserede løsninger (NBS) længere end blot tilpasning til klimaændringer og forbedring af livskvaliteten. En sund korridor er også en medskabt social og kulturel infrastruktur, der fremmer samfundets trivsel og har en positiv indvirkning på sundheden.

Projektet har tre hovedformål:

at fremme social samhørighed lokalt gennem levende laboratorier og inddragelse af borgere og interessenter
at opnå nye modeller for byfornyelse gennem skabelse af innovative offentlige rum
at formidle den viden, der produceres og demonstreres i byens laboratorier

URBiNAT-løsningerne testes i 7 europæiske byer: Porto, Sofia og Nantes fungerer som frontløbere, mens Siena, Nova Gorica, Bruxelles og Høje-Taastrup er 'følgere', der kopierer og tilpasser naturbaserede løsninger, der er testet i frontløberbyer, til deres egne bymæssige sammenhænge.
