See all EU institutions and bodiesClimate change adaptation and resilience remain high on the European policy agenda. Against this backdrop, the 17th Climate-ADAPT webinar will explore how European and national initiatives are advancing the transition from adaptation planning to implementation.
The webinar will provide an explanation from the European Commission on the European Framework for Climate Resilience. The Irish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will then showcase how the Climate Ireland platform and the Climate Ireland Adaptation Network (CIAN) support evidence-based adaptation through climate information, guidance, decision-support tools and stakeholder collaboration.
The webinar will conclude with an introduction to the updated Climate-ADAPT platform and its evolving role as the European knowledge hub for climate change adaptation. Through improved accessibility, practical tools, scientific evidence and case studies, Climate-ADAPT supports policymakers and practitioners in implementing adaptation measures and will continue to evolve in support of the European Framework for Climate Resilience.
Target audience
The webinar is primarily aimed at governmental decision-makers, policy officers and practitioners, as well as organisations supporting them in the development, implementation and evaluation of climate change adaptation policies, strategies, plans and actions at all levels of governance across Europe. It also welcomes businesses, social organisations and other stakeholders involved in advancing climate adaptation beyond the public sector, recognising that building climate resilience requires a whole-of-society approach. Researchers and other interested users of Climate-ADAPT are equally welcome to participate.
Background
The EU Adaptation Strategy recognises Climate-ADAPT as a key reference point for adaptation knowledge and sets out the ambition to establish it as the authoritative European platform for climate adaptation. To support this ambition, Climate-ADAPT has been significantly expanded since 2021, incorporating new data, tools and knowledge resources, including the European Climate and Health Observatory and the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change portal. For an overview of these developments and other recent updates, please consult the presentations from previous Climate-ADAPT webinars.
