Getting started with healthcare climate resilience

Description:

A climate-smart resilience plan is essential for any healthcare system to protect community health. To ensure that care can continue, despite the worsening impacts of climate change, every healthcare system in Europe must prepare for climate impacts and future-proof its infrastructure.

The webinar recordings, targeted at healthcare professionals, provide:

  • an overview of the LIFE RESYSTAL project and tools being developed to improve the climate resilience of European healthcare systems, including a community approach to resilience
  • an introduction to the framework for climate-resilient health systems that is currently being developed, including tools and methodologies for healthcare facilities to create preparedness plans and implement blue and green infrastructure measures
  • examples of resilience measures being implemented by CH Millau, one of the pilot hospitals of the LIFE RESYSTAL project
  • an invitation for healthcare facilities to join the Scaling network, a European network for healthcare climate resilience that will help foster an exchange of best practice

The LIFE RESYSTAL project aims to support improved climate risk and vulnerability assessment of health systems as well as an improved understanding of interdependencies between infrastructures, e.g. transport, energy networks, telecommunications, and clinical services, to ensure a more secure and resilient health service provision. The project will also support investment decisions that consider and encourage climate change adaptation.
