Guidelines for preparation of the Drought Management Plans

Description:

The Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) have developed a guidance document to help ten Central and Eastern European countries to develop Drought Management plans in accordance with the European Water Framework Directive guidelines. By setting-up this guidance document, the two organisations aims to get drought included in the second River Basins Management Plans (RBMP). This is very important since the countries are confronted with drought and water scarcity issues that will be increased due to climate change. The guidelines aim to encourage broader commitments to integrate droughts in the RBMP’s by a step by step approach and to provide information on drought to get a better understanding on the issues of drought and climate change.
