LCLIP projects provide an opportunity to explore the impacts and consequences of recent past weather events. The process involves reviewing local media reports and interviewing key stakeholders to identify local impacts and consequences.
LCLIP findings are commonly used to raise awareness of the impacts and consequences of extreme weather events and begin discussions about vulnerabilities to the future projected changes in climate.
The LCLIP process highlights a locality’s vulnerability to severe weather events and how these events affect local communities as well as local authority assets, infrastructure and capacity to deliver services. It is a pragmatic, and effective, starting point for a better understanding of the future.
