Climate information services for health

Climate information services are the production, translation, transfer, and use of climate knowledge and information in climate-informed decision-making, according to the World Meteorological Organization. Climate information services are important for the health care sector planning and preparedness. World Meteorological Organization uses countries’ self-reported data to report on the climate information services for the health care sector.

Interpretation of results

Number of countries in Europe that report providing climate information services to the health care sector (out of 34 countries reporting to the WMO Dashboard March 2026):

· Data services: 28 countries

· Climate monitoring services: 24 countries

· Climate analytics: 25 countries

· Climate predictions: 11 countries

· Climate projections: 19 countries

· Tailored climate products: 24 countries

Caveats

This reflects National Meteorological and Hydrological Service (NMHS) provided climate services, however it is unclear to what degree the services are made available or being used. The WMO member states can update the open questionnaire all year around, which means that the numbers reported in the report, might change over time, meaning that current information is just a snapshot in time and does not reflect the progress made in time. Quality of the climate services is not assessed by the questionnaire.
