Global Alliance for Buildings
Description
The Global Alliance for Buildings (GlobalABC) aims to "connect governments, private sector and organisations to drive the transformation towards a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector to achieve our vision that in a future-proof world all buildings – old and new – are zero-emission, efficient and resilient."
While energy efficiency and emission reductions in buildings are the major targets of the initiative, a key pillar in the Global Alliance for Buildings is the resilience of buildings towards mutating climate conditions and the hazards they bring about. In this perspective, the Alliance fosters the preparedness of the building sector towards "climate change and extreme events like storms, floods, high wind speeds, and soaring temperatures."
The GlobalABC’s website, in its Resources section, provides, besides its own flagship publications, quite a comprehensive coverage of the existing grey literature on energy in buildings, with download links for freely available reports and brochures, a share of which have to do with the resilience of buildings in the face of climate change. It also provides links to calls for proposals for funding, conferences or other relevant initiatives in the field of sustainable buildings.
